      Assam Power Distribution Company Limited (APDCL) is a public limited company wholly owned by the Government of Assam. It was incorporated on the 23rd day of October 2009 and has been registered under Indian Companies Act 1956.The primary purpose of the Company is to undertake distribution, trading and supply of electricity in the state of Assam or outside in accordance with provisions of Applicable Law and all activities ancillary or appurtenant thereto. It has also the mandate to develop, maintain and operate the power distribution system in the state of Assam.

VISION:  To be the catalyst for Holistic Growth of the State of Assam by powering Agriculture and Industry; lighting homes - rural and urban & generating internal resources for continually improving Technology & Delivery System to induce Customer Delight. 

MISSION:

• Advanced planning for procurement of electricity to cater to the consumers according to demand
• Enhancing the capacity of the electrical sub-divisions and distribution networks by investing in infrastructure
• Expanding the distribution network to supply power to all the villages
• Increasing awareness among the consumers about economic use of electricity
• Replacement of Electro-Mechanical Meters with Smart Meters
• To give emphasis on 100% Revenue collection, energy audit and error-free billing
• To set up Vigilance Cell to detect unauthorized use of electricity
• Proper planning for an effective HT/LT Ratio
• To reduce AT & C Losses by augmenting 1-Ph lines wherever required

• There are two divisions and five sub-divisions under APDCL, Dhemaji District:

  Two Divisions are:

        1.   DHEMAJI ELECTRICAL DIVISION

        2.   CHILAPATHAR ELECTRICAL DIVISION

  Five Sub-Divisions are:

• JONAI ELECTRICAL SUB DIVISION
• DHAKUAKHANA ELECTRICAL SUB DIVISION
• DHEMAJI ELECTRICAL SUB DIVISION
• GHILAMORA ELECTRICAL SUB DIVISION

• The work of the electrical sub division typically involves:

• Power Distribution Management: Ensuring the effective and efficient distribution of electricity from substations to consumers (residential, commercial, and industrial).
• Maintenance and Repairs: Conducting routine maintenance of electrical infrastructure like transformers, circuit breakers, and power lines, as well as troubleshooting and repairing faults when they occur.
• Installation of Electrical Equipment: Overseeing the installation of electrical systems, including wiring, transformers, and circuit panels for new or upgraded buildings or areas.
• Monitoring and Control: Monitoring the performance of electrical systems to prevent overloading, outages, or failures, and controlling the flow of electricity to avoid disruptions.
• Safety Compliance: Ensuring all electrical installations and operations comply with safety standards and regulations to protect both employees and the public.
• Upgrades and Improvements: Implementing system upgrades or expansions to meet the growing demand for electricity in a specific region.
• Coordination with Other Departments: Working alongside other departments like PWD, PHE, Agriculture etc. to ensure seamless service delivery.
• Consumer Support: Handling consumer issues such as power outages, voltage problems, billing problems or requests for new electrical connections.
• Revenue Collection: To ensure 100% revenue collection and go for anti-theft drive

• KEY ACHIEVEMENTS:

• SMART METER INSTALLATON: Smart meter installation is in process for more accurate billing, better energy usage insights for consumers, to improve efficiency, and to manage energy distribution more effectively. Till now about 13000 smart meters are installed under Chilapathar Electrical Division and 18927 nos. smart meters are installed under Dhemaji Electrical Division.
• PM SURYA GHAR SCHEME: This is a government initiative launched in India to promote the use of solar energy, particularly in residential areas. It aims to increase the adoption of solar power among households, thereby promoting clean and renewable energy. Under Dhemaji District 49 nos. of rooftop solar panels are installed.
• CONSTRUCTION OF New 33/11 KV SUBSTATION: To enhance the performance of electricity distribution networks and to improve power supply reliability, construction of 5 nos. new 33/11 KV substation are going on at Joyrampur,Butikur,Mingmang,Gali and Mesaki under RDSS and AIIB scheme.
• TRANSFORMER INSTALLATION: To improve the voltage quality, installation of 302 nos. distribution transformers are going on under RDSS and AIIB scheme.

• ORGANIZATIONAL STRUCTURE:

  The division operates under the leadership of the Assistant General Manager, supported by a team of Sub Divisional Engineer, Assistant Manager, Junior Manager, Accounts Officer and other technical and administrative staff. This structure ensures a smooth flow of operations, from the management of electrical systems to customer service and maintenance, with proper oversight on safety and compliance.
