Office of the District Transport Officer, Dhemaji

The District Transport Office, Dhemaji, is responsible for generating revenue through Motor Vehicle Taxes and the collection of fines via enforcement drives against defaulting or errant motor vehicles. Additionally, the office actively works towards enhancing road safety across the district.

Road Safety Initiatives

To enhance road safety across the district’s National and State Highways, various measures have been undertaken, including the installation of signages, rumble strips, speed breakers, and barricades at vulnerable locations to minimize road accidents. Additionally, awareness campaigns are being conducted in educational institutions and public spaces to educate citizens on road safety norms. Special training sessions for drivers are also being organized at regular intervals.

In line with the directives of the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways (MoRTH), the office successfully observed "National Road Safety Month 2025" from January 1 to January 31, 2025.

Enforcement Drives & Revenue Collection

As part of rigorous enforcement activities, an amount of ₹13,195,200 has been collected in fines from violators this financial year (as of January 31, 2025).
